Preparing for MIPS in 2023

This article assumes you are already familiar with the MIPS program and 2023 requirements. On Thursday, December 29th, 2022, Kendall Wolff will be hosting a webinar that will review what you need to know for the 2023 reporting year. MIPS Changes for 2023:
- Potential reward is budget neutral dependent, and penalty will remain at -9%
- No changes to the Low Volume Threshold (200 units, 200 patients, $90k in allowed)
- Data completeness threshold remains at 70% for 2023 but will increase to 75% for the 2024 and 2025 performance year
- Minimum MIPS Score threshold remains at 75 points
- Exceptional performance bonus has been removed
- No new measures are being added to TheraOffice
4 Steps to MIPS 2023:
1. Decide your submission status: Will you be participating? Who will be participating? Claims or registry? Group or individual?
2. Get the Early 2023 Update (v24): It is not possible to run the MIPS Wizard for 2023 without this update. MIPS customers will be prioritized to receive the MIPS update before the end of the year.
3. Run the MIPS Configuration Wizard.
4. Complete the MIPS Provider Participation Screen. Indicate which measures your clinic will be reporting. At least 6 measures are required, but you can report more if you choose to.

As soon as you download the Early 2023 Update, you will be prompted with a pop-up to remind you to run the wizard. We recommend running it as soon as possible and you can absolutely run the wizard before the end of 2022 if you prefer.

To access the Wizard, you will need Administrator access. The tool itself is found in theBackstage Menu >Administrator >MIPS Wizard, and is located near the bottom of the menu. The wizard itself is easier than ever! You will simply indicate whether you are making any changes to how you previously submitted MIPS data in 2022. If you choose "No Major Changes," the process is complete. If you indicate you are planning to switch your submission type or completion, you will be redirected to a contact form. A member of our team will contact you directly to discuss your options and to adjust your TheraOffice to reflect those decisions.

To further ensure that everyone submitting under the TheraOffice registry has complete compliance with the program and is getting the best score possible, all clinics who reported in 2022 MUST download the Early 2023 Update (v24) and run the MIPS Wizard for 2023 in order to lock any notes from 2023 dates of service (you will still be able to lock 2022 DOS notes through 1/10/2023). We recommend all users do this as soon as possible, regardless of registry status.
How to enroll in the TheraOffice Registry for 2023:
If you were a registry customer in 2022, the registry contact on file should already have received an email to confirm re-enrollment in the program for MIPS 2023. If you are a current registry customer and have not received any email like this, please email TheraOffice_Registry@ntst.com.

Important Dates for Registry Customers:
ASAP, December 2022/January 2023:Decide on your submission status for the upcoming year: claims/registry, individual/group. Then, download the Early 2023 Update and run your MIPS wizard indicating participation status. If this step is not completed, you will not be able to lock notes for dates of service in 2023 until it is done.
January 2023:A TheraOffice MIPS specialist will email you to schedule your final call to review 2022 MIPS data submissions.
End of January/February 2023:Attest to your improvement activities for 2022 submissions via AdobeSign.
End of January/February 2023:Attend your final review call.
March 2023:TheraOffice MIPS Registry data will be officially submitted to CMS.
