TIER Image Center for Scanning
Overview
The Tier Image Center is a free add-on tool for the TIER® application that helps in managing scanned documents.
How to Implement
To begin, verify that the most current version of the TIER® IC executable (TIERIC.exe vX.X) is installed for all users who will be accessing or scanning documents. The file is located in a similar or exact directory as the following: C:\Program Files\Sequest Technologies\Tier\TierIC.exe. To utilize this utility or update a previous version of the TIER® IC executable, please contact Tier Support to request an updated file to be sent.
Next, decide on a central network location to store all scanned documents where all users can access it and provide that path in the TIER® configuration screen. Access the TIER® System Configuration dialog box by right clicking on Configuration node in the TIER® TreeView, and select Properties. The Tier System Configuration dialog box opens. Select the Paths tab. In the path for scanned documents edit, enter the network path where the scanned documents will be stored and accessed. Scanning can be performed by creating a tier button with a single multi-command called ScanDoc. A scan of a document or viewing an existing scanned document(s) can be performed from this command.
The TIER® Image Center also allows for importing external documents that were scanned outside TIER by directly using the software that comes with a scanner.
But this feature goes beyond that by allowing the attaching of any documents or files to a Tier Document through the Moving / Copying / Linking feature.
(TIER® IC allows for drag & drop functionality of multiple files onto the TIER® IC screen to import them).
Another feature allows users to categorize the scanned documents by first selecting a category before scanning. Already scanned documents can also be categorized by using the Import feature. Clicking on the "All" category shows all files from all categories, allowing users to see everything at once.
There is also the ability to configure or choose the major features of a scanner like WIA & TWAIN drivers, ADF feed sourcing, and the option of duplex scanning (NOTE: The default settings are perfect for most scanners).
