Roles - Select Group NPI dialog

In addition to the individual NPI numbers, physicians can belong to multiple provider groups. Provider groups may also obtain unique NPI numbers.

You can assign a Group NPI to a physician using the Insert Row button near the grid under the Group NPI Number(s) check box.

The Select Group NPI dialog displays information entered in Administration>General>Group NPI Table.

• To assign a physician and clinician to the defined group, select the group associated by clicking the Use check box beside the group.
• Once the group is selected, it is displayed on the physician's Roles window.

To remove a Group NPI from a physician, select the group you want to delete and then click the Delete Row button within the Roles window.

The Select Group NPI dialog is available for physician and clinician resource types only.

• Netsmart Homecare defines which resource types are physicians based on the Special Discipline Code and Category of the resource type defined in Administration>General>Resource Types.
• To enable this window, the selections required within the Resource Types window include a Staff or Contractor category and a Special Discipline Code of Physician.

Select the Group NPI numbers check box to open the Select Group NPI dialog and complete the following columns:

When the group NPI number is already used in admission records, you can delete appropriate group (for example, physician will no longer practice at the group), without any error messages. This NPI number will still be stored in existing admission records for historical purposes, however, the number will no longer be displayed in the drop-down of available NPI numbers for the physician.
