Introduction to the Patient Component
Patient Component Overview
The Patient component is designed for entering all patient-related information: personal information, insurance and admission information, and clinical information, such as medications and diagnoses. In this component, you can perform the majority of the daily visit functions – for example, care plan charting and assessments. You can also view services for a patient and print various patient-related documents, such as care plans and face sheets.
Patient Information Panel
The Patient Information panel is displayed on the right in the Patient component. This panel shows patient-related items, such as team, primary insurance, date of birth, Master ID, age, account number, MD1, MD2, care team, or phone number. If the Care Team item is selected, then the care team is displayed on the Patient Information panel. The items you can see on the panel depend on the privileges you have for this information. These items and the order in which they appear are defined in Administration>Configuration>Organization>Static Patient Information.
Note: If many items were selected to display on the Patient Information panel, you may need to scroll vertically to view all of them.
Patient Lists
Within the Patient component, you can create patient lists. The patient list shows information for each patient, such as the ID number, name, team, admission date, discharge date if appropriate, date of birth, branch, the city they live in, and their orders recertification date. For more information, see Patient List Window.
Patient General Windows
Using the windows under Patient>General, you can add new patients to the application, as well as to enter and edit patient-related information such as address, diagnoses, payers, admission and discharge information, and agency-defined demographics.
Patient Documents Windows
Using the windows under Patient>Documents, you can print a variety of documents for a selected patient. These documents include assessments, care plans, face sheets, medication lists, and clinical notes. If you want to print documents for a number of patients, use the Demand Documents windows in the Orders component.
