HL7 inbound message processing
The Netsmart Homecare Service Manager provides scanning for incoming messages according to configuration settings. When the message is received, it is processed and saved.
You can access the incoming messages using the Inbound HL7 Message Processing window (Interface>HL7>Inbound HL7 Message Processing).
The following are the inbound message status descriptions:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
|
N: Not Started |
A user did not start the processing of the message. |
|
D: Declined |
A user declined the message. |
|
X: Cancelled |
A user cancelled the message. |
|
C: Complete |
A user completed the message. |
The following are the inbound message data statuses:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
|
E: Error |
The latest validation of the message resulted in errors. Messages with errors cannot be completed. |
|
W: Warning |
The latest validation of the message resulted in no errors but with warnings. Messages with warnings and no errors can be completed. |
|
S: Success |
The latest validation of the message resulted in no errors or warnings. Messages with no warnings or errors can be completed. |
Using this window, you can complete the message by selecting the record and clicking the Complete button at the bottom of the window. This action inserts the information into the Netsmart Homecare database and provides the availability of that information in the Netsmart Homecare application. When the message is completed, its status changes to C (Complete).
With the Auto Complete option, you can complete messages that do not contain errors automatically.
- If this option is turned on, messages containing no errors will be automatically completed by the system.
- The user can also select whether to process messages without errors but with warnings by selecting the corresponding check box.
- If Auto Completion is turned off, the user should complete each message manually.
The Auto Completion option is available for all inbound messages. For setting up this option, refer to HL7 general settings.
If a message contains errors, you cannot complete it unless all the errors are corrected.
- You can also correct the warnings, however, the system allows validating the message with warnings and further completion of such messages.
- Refer to the HL7 Edit message for detailed information on how to edit a message.
