Troubleshooting tips for disable rules
If your disable rule is not working, follow these tips.
- Review all disable rules in your assessment.
- If there is an error in one rule, other rules used later in the assessment may not work.
- Rules are case-sensitive. Check to see if there is a capital or lowercase letter where there should not be.
- Check to see if there is a dash instead of an underscore between words in the question code.
- Check to see if there are spaces or extra spaces between words.

- Do not copy a rule from a Word document or another type of document.
- The straight quotation marks " used in disable rules will convert to smart quotation marks
when copied and pasted into a disable rule. - The quotation marks may not be easy to see unless you look closely.
