Treatment Plan Designer drag-and-drop feature
In Treatment Plan Designer (NX) one of the most powerful features is the drag-and-drop functionality.
You can drag-and-drop treatment plan items in the following ways.
- Within a treatment plan - In the P1 or P2 Properties pane, place the cursor on an item in the treatment plan and drag it to another position on the same plan.
- From the Toolbox to a treatment plan - Place the cursor on a Toolbox item, drag the item to the treatment plan in the P1 or P2 Properties pane, and position it where you want it to appear on the plan.
- From one treatment plan to another - In the P1 or P2 Properties pane, place the cursor on a treatment plan item, drag it to the treatment plan in the other pane, and position it where you want it to appear.
- ► Drag and drop items
-
- In the treatment plan or the Toolbox, place the cursor on the item to be moved and press and hold the left mouse button.
- Drag the item in the direction where you want it to go. The item being dragged becomes partly opaque and looks like a shadow of the original, and it is outlined with a red dashed line. If an arrow displays that points up or down, you can drag the item in that direction. If no up arrow or down arrow displays, you cannot drag the item in that direction.
- When the item is dragged over a possible target, the target is outlined with a red dashed line. An arrow displays indicating if the dragged item will be placed before or after the target. In this example the Client Type is being dragged to appear below the Disenrollment Date.
- The arrow may change from down to up or up to down, indicating the item can be moved in either direction.
- When the item is positioned, release the mouse button. In this example, the Client Type now appears below the Disenrollment Date. The moved item, Client Type, and the items affected by its move display in blue and bold to indicate the order of items has been modified.
Important:
- If you drag an item and no arrow displays, you cannot move the item in that direction.
- When you move an item within a treatment plan or from one plan to another, the item is modified because its order has changed in the group.
- If the items at a level are collapsed, there are no arrows available to drag-and-drop items. You must expand the item to drag-and-drop an item into that level.
- ► Move an item within a treatment plan
-
Dragging an item within the treatment plan will initiate a move. You can also drag and drop a subtree of a line or component from one position in a treatment plan to another position in the plan.
- In Pane 1 or Pane 2, left-click on an item and press and hold the left mouse button.
- Drag the item to the place where you want it to appear.
When the item is dragged over a possible target, the target is outlined with dashes and an arrow displays, indicating if the item can be placed in the target area. In this example, the Indications Test Group is being moved before the Status Test Group. - Once you have positioned the item where you want it to appear and the arrow is pointing correctly either up or down, release the mouse button. This will create the item with new identifiers and automatically renumber the line order.
- In the toolbar click Save to save the changes and refresh the treatment plan.
- ► Move an item from one treatment plan to another
-
Dragging a treatment plan item from one plan to another will initiate a copy. You can also drag and drop a subtree of a line or component from one Properties pane to another.
- In Pane 1 or Pane 2, left-click on an item and press and hold the left mouse button.
- Drag the item to a location on the plan in the other pane.
- Expand the new line and update the required information (identified by a red asterisk) and any other information as desired.
- Once you have positioned the item where you want it to appear and the arrow is pointing correctly either up or down, release the mouse button. This will copy the item with new identifiers and automatically renumber the line order.
- The item that was copied displays as green and bold to indicate it is a new item on the plan it was copied to.
- Expand the new line and update the required information (identified by a red asterisk) and any other information as desired.
- In the toolbar click Save to save the changes and refresh the treatment plan.
- ► Drag a new item from the Toolbox
-
Moving a Toolbox item onto a treatment plan automatically adds a new item.
- In the Toolbox, place the cursor over the item and left-click and press and hold the left mouse button.
- Drag the item to a plan in Pane 1 or Pane 2.
When the item is dragged over a possible target, the target is outlined with dashes and an arrow displays, indicating the item will go before or after the target item.

- Once you have positioned the item where you want it to appear and the arrow is pointing correctly either up or down, release the mouse button. This will create the item with new identifiers and automatically renumber the line order.
- The item dragged from the Toolbox appears as green, which indicates it is a new item.
- Expand the new item and complete the required fields.
- In the toolbar click Save to save the changes and refresh the treatment plan.
- ► Remove a drag-and-drop item
-
- To remove an item you dragged and dropped on a treatment plan, in the row click Actions and select Delete.
- To cancel all changes to a treatment plan, in the toolbar click Cancel.
Note: You must select Cancel prior to saving the treatment plan. Once you save the changes to a treatment plan, you cannot undo a drag-and-drop action.
