Setup Outlook 365 Integration with myAvatar NX

Prerequisite:

  • Avatar NX Release 2023.11.00 and RADplus 2023 Update 112 is required for full functionality.
Configure Microsoft 365 and myAvatar NX
  1. Log in your Microsoft Azure Portal.
  2. Select the App Registrations tab to create a new registration. Once on the App Registration tab, select the New Registration button.

  3. Enter a name for the application, choose the supported account types, then select the Register button.

  4. On the App Registration page, select the API Permissions tab, select the Add a permission button, then select the Microsoft Graph API.

  5. Select the Application Permissions option.

  6. Under the Calendars permissions, select the Calendars.Read permission, then select the Add permissions button.

  7. Select the Calendars.Read permission, then select the Grant admin consent for My Business button.

  8. Now select the Authentication tab to enable requests from specific domains access to read permissions enabled from the Microsoft Graph API. Select the Add a platform button. Then select the Single-page application option.

  9. For the Redirect URI field, enter the URL of where your myAvatarNX application is hosted. For example, if your myAvatarNX instance is hosted on https://nxtestingnxlab.netsmartcloud.com, then enter https://nxtestingnxlab.netsmartcloud.com in the Redirect URI field. Then select the Configure button.

    NOTE: For each URL a myAvatarNX instance is hosted on, you will need to add a specific Redirect URI. This will mean adding a URL for your LIVE, UAT, SBOX and whichever other myAvatarNX environments that are setup.
  10. Select the Certificates & Secrets tab, then select the New client secret button. Create a description for your secret and select the Add button.

    NOTE: Please save the client secret value that was created somewhere secure where you can provide that value later within the myAvatarNX application. Also, systems cannot have more than one client secret active at a time.
  11. Log in to your myAvatarNX instance. Open the form Registry Setting and search for the setting Enable Outlook 365 Integration. Enter the value Y. This enables integration by displaying a new tab on the System Security Defaults form. (Only available in RADplus 2023 Update 112 and newer versions). Submit the form.

  12. Open the System Security Defaults form. Select the Outlook 365 Integration tab.

  13. For the Client ID field, copy and paste the value from the Application (client) ID located on the Overview tab in Outlook 365.

  14. For the Tenant ID field, copy and paste the value from the Directory (tenant) ID located on the Overview tab in Outlook 365.

  15. For the Client Secret field, please paste the value that was previously created in Outlook 365. Please submit the form.
Link a myAvatar User to their Microsoft Outlook Account
  1. Log in to myAvatar and go to User Preferences located under the user icon.
  2. Select Calendar, then select Add Source.
  3. Choose the Microsoft Outlook option, then select Add.
  4. Enter an account that is tied to the tenant configured using your Microsoft account credentials. A dialog will pop up stating linking to your Microsoft Outlook account was successful.
