OSHPD Zip Code Defaults

This article describes a 2024 planned feature delivered through the myAvatar Product Roadmap. This information is subject to change.

What are we doing?

Modifying the logic for defaulting the client's zip code into the OSHPD Zip Code field in the Discharge form to only default/populate the first five digits of the zip code. If the client's zip code was entered as XXXXX-XXXX, only XXXXX will default in the OSHPD Zip Code field.

Why are we doing it?

To adhere to OSHPD State Reporting Requirements. There is a registry setting in Avatar to validate that only five digits are in the OSHPD Zip Code field upon submitting the discharge form, when that registry setting is enabled, the user is prompted with an error message that the format in the OSHPD zip code is not correct in situations where the zip code was entered as nine digits.
