Import a Dictionary File

Import a dictionary file into the current root system code or all root system codes in myAvatar.

Prerequisite:

Create a dictionary import file (tab delimited)
  • Use any Windows-based word processing program. Save the document as a text (.txt) file. The file can be created in Microsoft Excel and saved as a tab-delimited text file.
  • Use tab-delimited (ASCII character 9) columns. Follow each column with a carriage return (ASCII character 13), and a line feed (ASCII character 10).
  • Use tabs for blank entries.
  • Save the file on the server.

  1. Go to: RADplus Utilities > Dictionary and Table Maintenance > Dictionary Import.
  2. Choose Select File.
  3. Navigate to the file, click Open.
  4. Select Scan Import File to scan the dictionary import file. Scan results display in the Scan Results field.
  5. For the Root System Codes:
    • Select All to update all myAvatar root system codes.
    • Select Current Root System Code to update the root system code the user is logged into.
  6. The Update additional namespaces field is enabled when myAvatar is connected to multiple namespaces.
    • Select Yes to update additional namespaces.
      • In the Additional Namespaces field, select additional namespaces for dictionary import. This field contains all namespaces on the facility’s server.
    • Select No to update the current namespace.
  7. Select Scan Import File to scan the dictionary import file. Scan results display in the Scan Results field.
ResultFile Data is enabled when the file contains no errors. If the dictionary file contains warnings, the Import Action field is enabled.
  8. In the Import Action field:
    • Select Import All to import all dictionaries. File errors are ignored; rows with no warnings are imported in the dictionary file.
    • Select Step Through Each Warning to display warnings found during the file import.
      • Select Yes in a warning message to continue importing.
      • Select No to stop importing.
Note: All errors must be corrected before the file can be posted. After correcting the file, it must be recompiled.
  9. If needed, select Print Scan Results to print the information in the Scan Results field.
  10. When the dictionary file has no errors, select Begin Import to import the dictionary file.
