Client Lookup - Search Scores Section

Define search score parameters.

  • Each score and selection entered in this section affects how a search result is selected, and if it will display on the Select Client screen.

  • When a search item matches a field, the value of that field is added to the overall search score. When the overall search score meets or exceeds the minimum score the search item will display.

  • Any combination of scores can be used to display a result in the Select Client screen.

  1. In the Minimum Score for Display field, enter the number a search result must meet to display on the Select Client screen.
For example, if the minimum score is 80, any combination of scores in the Social Security #, Soundex, and Last Name fields must equal 80.

  2. Assign a value in the following fields. The higher the value gives that element more weight in the overall search score.
  • Social Security #

  • Soundex
Soundex displays names by the way they sound in English, including results with minor spelling differences.

  • Last Name
If a client last name matches, the client first name is searched. If the client first name matches, the first name score (First Name field) is added to the total search score.
Choose how a match on a client's first and last name is calculated. If the client first or last name matches the number (Last Name field, First Name field) is added to the search score.

  1. In the Base Last Name Search upon a Specific Number of Characters field, select how a client last name search is scored.
    • Specific Number of Characters - the number of characters (Specific Number of Characters to Base Search Upon field) for last name searches.
    • Number of Entered Characters - the number of characters (Last Name field) in the Select Client screen.
  2. In the Specific Number of Characters to Base Search Upon field, type the number of characters.
If the number of characters in the Last Name field (Select Client screen) is less than the number in this field, the Last Name field is used.

  3. In the First Name field, enter the search score number.

  4. In the Base First Name Search upon a Specific Number of Characters field, select how a client first name search is scored.

    • Specific Number of Characters - uses number of characters (Specific Number of Characters to Base Search Upon field) for first name searches.

    • Number of Entered Characters - uses number of characters (First Name field) in the Select Client screen.

  5. In the Specific Number of Characters to Base Search Upon field, type the number of characters.
If the number of characters in the First Name field (Select Client screen) is less than the number in this field, the Last Name field is used.
Assign a value in the following fields, to weight these elements in the overall search score.

  6. In the Allow stand-alone Last Name and First Name search field, select Yes to allow using only the first and last name in the client lookup search. (Requires myAvatar Middleware Release 2016.03).

  7. In the Sex field, enter the search result number.
If the client sex matches, and the client matches in another search field, this number is used in the search score.

  8. In the Date of Birth (Month/Day) field, enter the search result number.

  9. In the Date of Birth (Year) field, enter the search result number.

  10. In the Allow stand-alone Date of Birth Search field, select Yes to perform a client search using only the client date of birth. This bypasses the client last name and first name.

  11. In the Maximum Number of Displayed Matches field, enter the maximum number of matches to display in the Search Results section of the Select Client screen.

  12. Click Submit.
