Service Code Upload Process - PM

The Service Code Upload Process form allows you to import multiple services codes at one time - either to add new codes or to edit existing codes. Using the Service Code Upload Process eliminates the need to set up each code individually in the Service Codes form. This form can also compile a tab-delimited text file (spreadsheet) which can be uploaded to the service code table.

Prerequisites:

  • Create a tab-delimited file using any spreadsheet application that can save as a text file.
  • Click to see the layout for the upload file.

  1. Go to: Avatar PM > System Maintenance > System Definition > Service Code Maintenance > Service Code Upload Process
  2. In the Compile Or Post field, select Compile to move the data to a temporary file and have myAvatar check it for errors. The file must be compiled before it can be posted.

Note: To check for errors and review the results, use the Service Code Upload Accepted Codes and Service Code Upload Rejected Codes forms to review the results of the compile.

  • The Service Code Upload Accepted Codes shows you which rows compiled successfully. If all rows were successful, proceed to the next step.
  • The Service Code Upload Rejected Codes form will provide details for each error. (see Example below for more details) If the file has errors, the errors must be corrected before the file can be posted. To make corrections, see steps below.
► Example
In the following example, a required field/column (Group Code) per the import layout was not entered in the import file that was compiled. This error can be corrected by adding a value in that column in the import file and compiling again.

  1. In the Override Existing Service Codes field:
  • Select Yes to override any service codes in myAvatar with service codes in the uploaded file.
  • Select No to prevent service codes from being overwritten.
  1. Select Submit.
  2. Select Yes to Return to Form
  3. In the Compile Or Post field, select Post to submit the data into the Service Code Table. These service codes are included in the service code tableSYSTEM.billing_tx_master_table, and are available throughout myAvatar PM.
  4. Select Submit.

Note:  To correct errors in your file, you can use the Service Code Upload Rejected Codes form to identify those errors. After corrections have been made to the import file, repeat the compile steps above until all errors have been corrected and all service codes display in the Service Code Upload Accepted Codes form.

The most recent version of the Service Code Upload Layout can be found in the current monthly Maintenance Release zip file found on the Product Update Portal, or downloaded from the Avatar PM Mapping page.
