Program Map For Processing Inbound ADT

Define a program map to use during the processing of inbound ADT messages.

  1. Go to Avatar PM > HL7 Interface > Inbound > Program Map For Processing Inbound ADT.
  2. At the bottom of the page, select Display Program Map to launch the Currently Defined Program Mappings window and view the existing mappings.
  3. In the Action field, choose whether to:
    • Define Program Map Structure - Use this to define elements/fields upon which the mapping is based.
    • Define Program Map - Use this to define the map itself. A map cannot be defined without an existing mapping structure.
Define Program Map Structure

The program mapping structure can be based upon up to two HL7 field elements. For example, a user could create a program mapping structure that is based on PV1-10 (hospital service) or one that is based on the both MSH-4.1 (sending facility) and PV1-2.1 (patient class).

The default behavior is for myAvatar to assume that a valid program code is included in segment PV1 field 10 (Hospital Service) for use when a program code is needed (e.g. an admission or program transfer).

  1. In the Mapping Element 1 field, select the first element to base the mapping on. This code set consists of those HL7 fields that can be used for defining the mapping structure.
  2. In the Mapping Element 2 field, select the second element (if desired) to base the mapping on. This is optional, but must be different than the selection made for Mapping Element 1.
  3. Click Update to add or update the mapping structure. If a map is already defined, the system will warn you that proceeding will remove the existing map.
    OR
    Click Delete to remove the mapping structure.
Define Program Map
  1. In the Element 1 Value field, enter the value associated with Element 1.
    If the structure is based on one element, then the program will default in automatically when the user inputs a value for which there is a program mapping defined.
  2. In the Element 2 Value field, enter the value associated with Element 2 (if included).
    If the structure is based on two elements, then the program will default in automatically if the user inputs both values for which there is a program mapping defined.
  3. In the Program field, select the program to default based on the selected element(s).
  4. Click Update Mapping to add or edit the map.
