HL7 Field Mapping Utility

Use this form to manually map HL7 segments/fields to specific Netsmart values for ADT messages.

1. Go to Avatar PM > HL7 Interface > System Maintenance > HL7 Field Mapping Utility.
2. Select the established Connection to configure. This drop-down list contains both inbound and outbound HL7 connections.
3. Select the HL7 Segment/Field to map for the connection selected.
4. If Yes is selected to Use The Same Field Map That Is Defined For A Different Connection, the Use The Same Field Map Of Which Connection becomes available. Choose the different connection to use. 
   • This functionality is intended to facilitate the mapping of fields between different connections. This removes the need to map specific values more than once across multiple connections (i.e. PV1-3.1 mapped from an ADT connection to an order connection).
   • If None is selected, the Use The Same Field Map Of Which Connection value for the currently selected Connection and HL7 Segment/Field will be deleted.
5. The Netsmart Value - Text field allows a user to define a local text-based Netsmart Value that can be mapped to an external value.
6. The Netsmart Value - Dictionary field allows a user to define a local dictionary-based Netsmart Value that can be mapped to an external value.
7. The External Value field is the mapped value that will appear in the HL7 segment and field.
8. The External Value Codeset ID field is used to represent the type of code that's entered in the External Value field. This is specific to HL7 fields that are designated as coded elements (CE). When a CE-type field is selected in the HL7 Segment/Field field, then this field will become enabled. This will populate the third component of a CE-type field in the HL7 message.
