Data encoding error in Perceptive
When attempting to import a document or add a Sticky Note annotation to a document in Perceptive Content (formerly ImageNow), the following error occurs:
"A Data Encoding Error has occurred."
This issue occurs when the file name of the document being imported or the text added to the Sticky Note annotation contains special characters (typically a Unicode character). Perceptive Content database is encoded in ANSI, which does not support Unicode characters. When the database attempts to store the Unicode characters, the database does not know how to process them, thus resulting in the error.
To resolve this issue, remove the Unicode characters from the file name or from the Stick Note annotation text, and then reattempt the process.
Note: In some situations the special characters may not be readily visible within the sticky note. If this occurs, use a more advanced text editor (such as Notepad++) in order to view all characters within the text which may be hidden.
