Clinical Quality Code Configuration

This form allows you to include CQI's in billing by associating them to existing service codes.

Clinical Quality Indicators are normally used as a flag on progress notes to trigger additional services that are rendered to meet the Meaningful Use measures. These services are excluded from any billing processes.

  1. Go to: Avatar CWS > CWS Utilities > Clinical Quality Code Configuration
  2. In the Code System field, select whether the code is a CPT code or a SNOMED code.
  3. In the CPT/SNOMED Code field, search for and select the specific code. Results from this search will be filtered according to the type of code selected in the Code System field.
  4. The Code Description field displays the description of the code, but can be changed.
  5. In the Service Code field, search for and select the service code to associate with the clinical quality code.
  6. Select whether or not the selected service represents a procedure.
  7. If needed, check Yes in the Deactivate field to deactivate this code configuration.
  8. Click File Quality Code to save the code mapping.
  9. Once code mappings have been established, use the Include Clinical Quality Indicators for Billing registry setting to enable them for billing use with Progress Notes.
