Scenario 1: eMAR NX - Last Refused Badge
Specific Setup:
  • The 'Avatar eMAR->General->Settings->->->Time Format Displayed in Avatar eMAR' registry setting must be set to "2".
  • The following extended attributes must be set in the 'eMAR Tabled Files' '(10000) Administration Event' dictionary for a dictionary code (Refused):
  • 'Successful Administration' = "No"
  • 'Client Refusal' = "Yes"
  • The following extended attributes must be set in the 'eMAR Tabled Files' '(10000) Administration Event' dictionary for a dictionary code (Nurse Administered):
  • 'Successful Administration' = "Yes"
  • 'Client Refusal' = "No"
  • A frequency code with administration times must exist. (3 Times A Day)
  • Please log out of the application and log back in after completing the above configuration.
  • A client must have an active episode whose program or unit are configured in the 'External Pharmacy Setup' form. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select any pharmacy-type order code in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Select "3 Times A Day" in the 'Freq' field.
  4. Set the 'Start Date' field to yesterday's date and the 'Start Time' field to "12:00 AM".
  5. Populate all remaining required fields and click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Final Review].
  6. Validate the ‘Interactions’ dialog is displayed.
  7. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  8. Validate the 'Final Review' dialog is displayed.
  9. Select "None" in the 'Output' field and click [Sign].
  10. Validate the ‘Order grid’ contains the new order.
  11. Access 'eMAR NX'.
  12. Validate that the order is displayed with scheduled administration times.
  13. Click the [Scan Client], select any value and click [Save].
  14. Navigate to the "0900" column under yesterday's date.
  15. Click [0900 Due].
  16. Validate the 'Medication List' is displayed and click [Administer].
  17. Validate the ‘Order Acknowledgement’ dialog is displayed and click [Acknowledge].
  18. Validate the ‘Medication Education’ dialog is displayed and click [Educate].
  19. Validate the ‘Administration Event’ dialog is displayed.
  20. Set the 'Date of Administration' field to yesterday's date.
  21. Set the 'Time of Administration' field to "0900".
  22. Select "Refused" in the 'Administration Event' field.
  23. Click [Address Alerts].
  24. Override all alerts and click [Save Override(s)], [Close], and [Save].
  25. Validate a refused badge is displayed with "Refused: yesterday's date 0900".
  26. Navigate to the "0900" column under the current date.
  27. Click [0900 Due].
  28. Validate the 'Medication List' is displayed and click [Administer].
  29. Validate the 'Date of Administration' field contains the current date.
  30. Click [Time of Administration - Now].
  31. Select "Refused" in the 'Administration Event' field.
  32. Click [Address Alerts].
  33. Override all alerts and click [Save Override(s)], [Close], and [Save].
  34. Validate a refused badge is displayed with "Refused: current date current time".
  35. Click the ellipsis in the '0900' column under the current date and select "Edit Administration Event".
  36. Select a successful administration event in the 'Administration Event' field.
  37. Populate all remaining required fields.
  38. Click [Address Alerts].
  39. Override all alerts and click [Save Override(s)], [Close], and [Save].
  40. Validate a refused badge is displayed with "Refused: yesterday's date 0900".
  41. Set the 'Avatar eMAR->General->Settings->->->Time Format Displayed in Avatar eMAR' registry setting to "1".
  42. Log out of the application and log back in.
  43. Select "Client A" and access 'eMAR NX'.
  44. Validate a refused badge is displayed with "Refused: yesterday's date 09:00 AM".
eMAR NX - Inventory
Note - These testing guidelines assume the user is skilled in the use of, at a minimum, the following:

  • eMAR NX - VOID ADMINISTRATION EVENT
Scenario 1: eMAR NX - Inventory - External Pharmacy Mode
Specific Setup:
  • The following extended attributes must be set in the 'eMAR Tabled Files' '(10000) Administration Event' dictionary for any dictionary code (Nurse Administered):
  • 'Successful Administration' = "Yes"
  • 'Client Refusal' = "No"
  • 'Decrement from Inventory on hand' = "Yes"
  • A client must have an inpatient episode whose program or unit are configured in the ‘External Pharmacy Setup’ form. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select any pharmacy-type order in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Populate the required fields and click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Final Review].
  4. An 'Interactions' dialog may be displayed.
  5. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  6. Validate the 'Final Review' dialog is displayed.
  7. Select "None" in the 'Output' field and click [Sign].
  8. Validate the 'Order grid' contains the new order.
  9. Access 'eMAR NX'.
  10. Validate the order is displayed.
  11. Click [Scan Client].
  12. Select any value and click [Save].
  13. Click the ellipsis for the pharmacy-type order created and click "Inventory".
  14. Set the 'Quantity to Add or Remove' field to any value.
  15. Click [+] and click [Save].
  16. Perform an administration for the pharmacy-type order created.
  17. Click the ellipsis for the pharmacy-type order created and click "Inventory".
  18. Validate the 'Current Quantity on Hand' field displays the correct value.
  19. Check the 'Include Administration Events' checkbox.
  20. Validate an appropriate row is displayed for every successful administration.
Scenario 2: eMAR NX - Inventory - Community Provider
Specific Setup:
  • The 'Avatar Order Entry->Facility Defaults->General->->->Practitioner IDs That Are Non-Facility Community Providers' registry setting must be set to the staff member associated to the logged in user.
  • Please log out of the application and log back in after completing the above configuration.
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select any pharmacy-type order code in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Set the 'Freq' field to a value that contains administration times.
  4. Populate the remaining required fields, click [Add to Scratchpad], and [Sign].
  5. Validate an 'Interactions' dialog may be displayed.
  6. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  7. Access 'eMAR NX'.
  8. Validate the order created is displayed with administration times.
  9. Click [Scan Client].
  10. Select any value and click [Save]
  11. Click the ellipsis for the order created and select "Inventory".
  12. Set the 'Quantity to Add or Remove' field to any value.
  13. Click [+] and click [Save].
  14. Perform an administration for the pharmacy-type order created.
  15. Click the ellipsis for the pharmacy-type order created and click "Inventory".

Specific Setup:
  • An outpatient program must exist. (Program A)
  • Two or more subsystem codes must exist. (Subsystem Code A, Subsystem Code B).
  • User must have access to the sub system codes in 'User Definition' form.
  • A pharmacy-type order code must exist. (Order Code A)
  • A client must have an active outpatient episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
  • Must be logged into the root system code.
Steps
  1. Access the 'Task Definitions' form.
  2. Select "Add" from the 'Add/Edit Task Definition' field.
  3. Set the 'New Task Code' field to "TaskDef1" and press Tab.
  4. Set the 'Task Title' field to "Example Task 1" and click [Submit].
  5. Validate a message is displayed that states: "Task Definitions has completed. Do you wish to return to form?" and click [Yes].

  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
  • Must be logged into the root system code.
Steps
  1. Access the 'Task Definitions' form.
  2. Select "Edit" from the 'Add/Edit Task Definition' field.
  3. Search for and select "Sepsis Assessment (SEPSIS)" from the 'Existing Task Code' field.
  4. Validate the 'New Task Code' field contains "SEPSIS".
  5. Validate the 'Task Title' field contains "Sepsis Assessment" and click [Submit].
  6. Validate a message is displayed that states: "Task Definitions has completed. Do you wish to return to form?" and click [Yes].
  7. Select "Edit" from the 'Add/Edit Task Definition' field.
  8. Search for and select "Complete Blood Count Task (CBCTask)" from the 'Existing Task Code' field.

  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select “Client A” and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select any pharmacy-type order code in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Select "Twice a Day" in the 'Freq' field.
  4. Set the 'Start Time' field to "12:00 AM".
  5. Populate all remaining required fields and click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  6. Validate the ‘Interactions’ dialog is displayed.
  7. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  8. Validate the ‘Order grid’ contains the new order.
  9. Access the 'eMAR' widget.
  10. Click 'Click here to provide override reason', select a value, enter an 'Other Reason' and click [Ok].
  11. Select the first cell under the current date and click [Administer].
  12. Validate a message is displayed "Error: Administrations are not allowed until this order has been verified by the pharmacy." and click [OK].
  13. Select the 'myDay' tab.
  14. Access the 'Launch RxConnect' form and click [Launch RxConnect].
  15. Select the 'Rx Summary' tab.
  16. Select the hospital associated with the Avatar application and click [Change and Resume].
  17. Find the order created for "Client A" and process the order.
  18. Close 'RxConnect'.
  19. Access the 'eMAR' widget.
  20. Validate the order created is displayed with scheduled administration times at "0900" and "2100".
  21. Click 'Click here to provide override reason', select a value, enter an 'Other Reason' and click [Ok].
  22. Click the "0900" cell under the current date and click [Administer].
  23. Complete 'Order Acknowledgement' and 'Client Education'.
  24. Validate the 'Administration Event' dialog is launched.
  25. Populate all required fields, override any alerts, and click [Save].
  26. Validate the cell under the "0900" column contains the amount administered and the time administered.

eMAR NX - sliding scale orders
Note - These testing guidelines assume the user is skilled in the use of, at a minimum, the following:

Scenario 1: OE NX - Orders This Episode - Sliding Scale Insulin order - Copy/Modify with validation in eMAR NX
Specific Setup:
  • An order code must have the 'Enable Sliding Scale Insulin Instructions' checkbox checked in the 'Order Code Setup' form (Order Code A).
  • The '(544) Character limit for Additional Instructions' extended attribute must not contain a value in the Order Entry Tabled Files ‘(500) Order Types’ dictionary for “Pharmacy”.
  • Please log out and then log back in after completing the above dictionary setting.
  • A template must exist in the 'Sliding Scale Insulin Template Setup' form. (Sliding Scale Insulin Template A).
  • A frequency code must exist that has administration times at "09:00 AM", "03:00 PM", and "09:00 PM". (3 Times a Day)
  • A client must have an active inpatient episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
  • Note: Testing assumes that it is after "03:00 PM".
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select "Order Code A" in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Click [SSI].
  4. Validate the 'Sliding Scale Instructions' dialog is displayed.
  5. Select "Sliding Scale Insulin Template A" in the 'Template' field and click [New Row].
  6. Set the values for Row 1 and click [New Row].
  7. Set the values for Row 2 and click [New Row].
  8. Set the values for Row 3 and click [New Row].
  9. Set the values for Row 4 and click [Save].
  10. Select "3 Times A Day" in the 'Freq' field, populate any remaining required fields, and click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  11. Validate the 'Order grid' contains the order created.
  12. Select the order from the 'Order grid' and click [Copy].
  13. Click [SSI] and validate the 'Sliding Scale Instructions' dialog is displayed.
  14. Validate the 'Template' field contains "Sliding Scale Insulin Template A", that all rows are displayed correctly, and click [Close/Cancel].
  15. Populate all required fields and click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  16. Validate the 'Order grid' contains two orders.
  17. Select the first order in the 'Order grid' and click [Modify].
  18. Click [SSI] and validate the 'Sliding Scale Instructions' dialog is displayed.
  19. Validate the 'Template' field contains "Sliding Scale Insulin Template A", that all rows are displayed correctly, and click [Close/Cancel].
  20. Populate all required fields and click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  21. Validate the 'Order grid' contains two orders.
  22. Access 'eMAR NX'.
  23. Click [Scan Patient], select any reason, and click [Save].
  24. Validate the orders are displayed.
  25. Click on the ellipsis in 'Order Information' and select 'Order Details'.
  26. Validate the 'Order Details' dialog is displayed and the Sliding Scale Insulin Information for "Sliding Scale Insulin Template A" is displayed correctly and close the dialog.
  27. Click [2100 Due] for one of the orders.
  28. Validate the dialog "Warning! The following issues require addressing:<br>To continue with this administration, please enter a reason in the box below" is displayed.
  29. Set "any value" and click [Ok].
  30. Click [Administer], [Acknowledge], and [Educate].
  31. Enter any value in the 'Blood Glucose (mg/dL) field.
  32. Click [View Sliding Scale].
  33. Validate the 'Sliding Scale Instructions' dialog is displayed and the Sliding Scale Insulin Information for "Sliding Scale Insulin Template A" is displayed correctly.
  34. Validate the correct value is selected and click [Select Dose].
  35. Populate the remaining required fields.
  36. Click [Address Alerts], override all alerts and click [Save Override(s)] and [Close].
  37. Click [Save] and validate the administration data is displayed in the cell under the "2100" column.

Specific Setup:
  • Avatar PM 2024 Update 36, Avatar OE 2024 Update 35, Avatar eMAR 2024 Update 16, Avatar CWS 2024 Update 48 and myAvatar NX Release 2024.07.00 is required in order to utilize full functionality.
  • The "(772) Discontinue or Hold Orders Upon Leave" extended attribute must be set to "Hold" in the Client '(757) Types Of Leave From' dictionary for "Leave"
  • Please log out of the application and log back in after completing the above configuration.

  8. Validate the 'Order grid' contains three orders.
  9. Access the 'Leaves' form.
  10. Populate the required fields selecting "Leave" from the 'Type of Leave From' field and click [Submit].
  11. Access the Order Entry Console.
  12. Validate the 'Order grid' contains the three orders with each having an action of "Active (On Hold automatically upon leave - Leave)".
  13. Access 'eMAR NX' for "Client A".
  14. Validate there is a banner across the pharmacy-type order hour columns displaying "Leave (Leave) Effective (leave date and leave time)".
  15. Click [Scan Client], populate the required fields, and click [Save].
  16. Perform 'Client Education' and 'Order Acknowledgement'.
  17. Click the ellipsis for the pharmacy-type order and select "Document Additional Dose".
  18. Validate the 'Select Administration Time' dialog is launched.
  19. Select any value in the 'Scheduled Undocumented Doses' section and click [Select].
  20. Validate the order is displayed in the 'Medication List' and click [Administer].
  21. Validate the 'Medication Administration' dialog is displayed.
  22. Populate the required fields.

Scenario 1: eMAR NX - Barcode Scanning for Multiple Orders - Multiple Doses Found
Specific Setup:
  • The 'Avatar eMAR->General->Settings->->->Time Format Displayed in Avatar eMAR' registry setting must be set to "1".
  • Please log out of the application and log back in after completing the above configuration.
  • Two pharmacy-type order codes must exist. (Order Code A) (Order Code B)
  • A barcode for "Order Code A" must exist. (Barcode A)
  • A barcode for "Order Code B" must exist. (Barcode B)
  • A routine frequency code, with at least two scheduled administration times, must exist. (Frequency Code A)
  • All scheduled administration times for "Frequency Code A" should be outside of the current allowable window.
  • A PRN frequency code, with no scheduled hours of administration, must exist. (Frequency Code B)
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Orders Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select "Order Code A" from the 'New Order' field.
  3. Set the 'Freq:' field to "Frequency Code A".
  4. Complete any remaining required fields and click [Add to Scratchpad].
  5. Search for and select "Order Code B" from the 'New Order' field.
  6. Set the 'Freq:' field to "Frequency Code B".
  7. Complete any remaining required fields and click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  8. If present, override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  9. Validate the 'Order grid' contains a row for both new orders.
  10. Access 'eMAR NX'.
  11. Click [Scan Client] and complete the 'Wristband Scan Override'.
  12. Validate the grid contains orders for both "Order Code A" and "Order Code B".
  13. Perform 'Order Acknowledgement' and 'Medication Education' for both orders.
  14. Scan "Barcode A" and validate the 'Multiple Doses Found' dialog is displayed.
  15. Validate that all dose times displayed in the 'Multiple Doses Found' dialog are in "AM/PM" format.
  16. Select one of the doses for "Order Code A" and click [Select].
  17. Validate the order is displayed in the 'Medication List'.
  18. Scan "Barcode B" and validate the order is displayed in the 'Medication List'.
  19. Click [Administer] and validate the 'Administration Event' dialog is launched.
  20. Validate the 'Scheduled Time' field for "Order Code A" is in "AM/PM" time format and the 'Scheduled Time' for "Order Code B" is "N/A".
  21. Select a successful administration event from the 'Administration Event' field for both "Order Code A" and "Order Code B".
  22. Click [Address Alerts] and provide an override for all alerts.
  23. Click [Save Override(s)] and [Close].
  24. Click [Save] and validate the 'Administration Event' dialog is closed.
  25. Validate under the 'Current Hour' column a successful administration event is displayed for "Order Code B".
  26. Scroll to the 'Hour' column of the selected dose time, for "Order Code A", and validate a successful administration event is displayed.
