OE NX - Admission Reconciliation - Ask on Order Entry
Scenario 1: OE NX - Admission Med Reconciliation - Product Substitution and AOE questions
Specific Setup:
  • Two order codes must exist. One order code must have at least one 'Ask On Order Entry' question associated with it (Order Code A) and one order code that has an "Order Code A" as it 'Product Substitution'. (Order Code B)
  • A client must have an active inpatient episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Select the 'Home Medications' tab.
  3. Uncheck 'Client Reported'.
  4. Search for and select the 'Order Code B'.
  5. Populate all required fields.
  6. Click [Add to Scratchpad], [Final Review] and [Sign].
  7. Check 'No Known Medications' and 'Medication history reviewed and completed for Episode #1' checkbox.
  8. Select the 'Admission Med Reconciliation' tab.
  9. Validate the order for "Order Code A" is displayed in the 'Home Medications (Pre-Admission)' order grid.
  10. Click [Add to Scratchpad]
  11. Validate the 'Product Substitution' dialog is displayed.
  12. Validate the 'Product Substitution' icon is displayed.
  13. Check the 'Accept' checkbox and click [Save].
  14. Click the order in 'Inpatient Medications Scratchpad'.
  15. Populate the required fields.
  16. Click [Ask on Order Entry].
  17. Answer the question and click [Save].
  18. Click [Update Order].
  19. Search for and select the 'Order Code A'.
  20. Populated the required fields.
  21. Click [Ask on Order Entry].
  22. Answer the question and click [Save].
  23. Click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Reconcile & Sign].
  24. Validate the 'Interactions' dialog is displayed.
  25. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  26. Validate the 'Admission Med Reconciliation' tab is in view-only mode.

OE Console - Home Medications - Status Filter.
Scenario 1: OE NX - Home Medications - Creating an order that requires validation and validating it via the V button
Specific Setup:
  • Two users must exist in the application: One whose actions require validation (User A) and One whose actions do not require validation (User B).
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
  • "User A" must be logged into the application.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Click the 'Home Medications' tab.
  3. Take note of the number next to the "V" button.
  4. Uncheck the 'Client Reported' checkbox.
  5. Search for and select the staff member associated with "User B" in the 'Ordering Practitioner' field.
  6. Select any value in the 'Program' field.
  7. Search for and select any medication in the 'New Order' field.
  8. Populate all required fields.
  9. Click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Final Review].
  10. Validate the 'Final Review' dialog is displayed.
  11. Validate "Pending" is selected in 'Output' and click [Sign].
  12. Select "Pending" in the 'Status' field
  13. Validate the 'Order grid' contains the order that was created.
  14. Log out of the application and log into the application as "User B".
  15. Select any client other than "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  16. Select the 'Home Medications' tab.
  17. Validate the number next to the [V] contains a number that has increased by 1.
  18. Click the [V].
  19. Validate the 'Validate' dialog is displayed.
  20. Select "Client A" and click [Validate].
  21. Validate "Pending" is displayed in the 'Status' field.
  22. Select the row for "Client A" and click [Validate].
  23. Validate the 'Order grid' contains and order for "Ambien 5 MG ORAL Tablet".
  24. Select the order and click [Validate].
  25. Validate the 'Final Review' dialog is displayed.
  26. Select "None" in 'Output' and click [Sign].
  27. Select "Active" in the 'Status' field.
  28. Validate the 'Order grid' contains an order for "Ambien 5 MG ORAL Tablet" with an 'Order Status' of "Active".

Scenario 1: Avatar eMAR - Comment - Administer a pharmacy-type order, lab order, dietary-oral order
Specific Setup:
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Create orders for a pharmacy-type order, lab-type order, and dietary-type order.
  3. Select the "eMAR" widget.
  4. Validate the pharmacy-type order is displayed on the 'Medications' tab.
  5. Complete the 'Order Acknowledgement' and 'Client Education' for the order.
  6. Select a cell under the current date to administer the order.
  7. Populate the required fields, leaving the 'Administration Event' field blank.
  8. Click [View] and enter any text in the 'Comment' field.
  9. Click [Ok] and validate the green check mark is displayed.
  10. Select any successful administration value in the 'Administration Event' field.
  11. Validate the green tick mark is displayed for the 'Comments' field.
  12. Click [View] and validate the entered text is displayed.
  13. Populate any warnings.
  14. Check the 'Accept administration information entered' checkbox and click [OK].
  15. Validate that the first cell under the current date contains the amount administered and the time administered.
  16. Select the 'Lab Orders' tab.
  17. Select a cell under the current date to collect the specimen.
  18. Validate that the 'Specimen Collection' dialog is displayed.
  19. Click [View] and enter any text in 'Comment'.
  20. Click [Ok] and validate the green check mark is displayed.
  21. Select any value in the 'Collection Event' field.
  22. Validate the green tick mark is displayed
  23. Click [View] and validate the entered text is displayed.
  24. Validate the 'Collection Date/Time' field is current date.
  25. Validate the 'Entered Date' field is current date.

Specific Setup:
  • Two Clients (Client A and Client B) must be configured to use the 'Discharge Med Reconciliation' tab.
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A and Client B)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
  • “Client B” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select "AMBIEN (19911) 10 MG TABLET ORAL (Schedule IV)" order in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Populate all required fields and click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  4. Validate the 'Interactions' dialog is displayed.
  5. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  6. Click the 'Discharge Med Reconciliation' tab.
  7. Validate the 'Inpatient Medications' order grid contains the order for "AMBIEN (19911) 10 MG TABLET ORAL (Schedule IV)".
  8. Select "Client B" and access the Order Entry Console.
  9. Click the 'Home Medications' tab.
  10. Validate the ‘Client Reported’ checkbox is checked.
  11. Search for and select "Aleve 220 MG Tablet Oral" order in the 'New Order' field.
  12. Populate all required fields and click [Save].
  13. Validate the 'Order grid' contains the order for "Aleve - 220 MG, TAB, PO Take one (1) tablet by mouth as needed".
  14. Click the 'Discharge Med Reconciliation' tab.

  16. Select "Client A" from My Clients listbox.

Scenario 1: OE NX - Validate that a Hold icon is displayed for a held Home Medications order in the 'Home Medications Scratchpad (Post-Discharge)' in the 'Discharge Med Reconciliation'
Specific Setup:
  • The 'Avatar Order Entry->Facility Defaults->Client Profile->->->'Default existing Home Meds to "Continue" in OE Console (Disch. Reconciliation) registry setting must be set to "Y".
  • Please log out of the application and log back in after completing the above configuration.
  • A client must be in an active Inpatient episode (Client A).
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
  • "Client A" must have a Home Medications order that was placed on hold in the Order Entry Console (Admission Med Reconciliation section).
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Click the 'Home Medications' tab.
  3. Search for and select any pharmacy-type order code in the 'New Order' field.
  4. Populate all required fields and change the order code description to 'Test'.
  5. Click [Add To Scratchpad] and check valid 'Order code' is displayed.
  6. Click [Sign].
  7. Click the 'Admission Med Reconciliation' tab.
  8. Validate the order that was placed in the 'Home Medications' tab is shown in the 'Home Medications (Pre-Admission)' order grid.
  9. Select the order in the 'Home Medications (Pre-Admission)' order grid.
  10. Click [Hold].
  11. Validate the order in the 'Home Medications (Pre-Admission)' order grid is "disabled".
  12. Validate 'Add to Scratchpad' and 'Hold' button is disabled.
  13. Click the [Undo] in the 'Home Medications (Pre-Admission)' order grid.
  14. Validate the order in the 'Home Medications (Pre-Admission)' order grid is selected.
  15. Validate 'Add to Scratchpad' and 'Hold' buttons are enabled.
  16. Click [Hold] and [Reconcile & Sign].
  17. Select the 'Discharge Reconciliation' tab.
  18. Search for and select any pharmacy-type order code in the 'New Order' field.

Scenario 2: OE NX - Orders This Episode and Admission Reconciliation - Instructions
Specific Setup:
  • An order group must exist that contains at least one pharmacy-type order code. (Order Group A)
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select any pharmacy-type order code in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Click in the 'Instructions' field and scroll to the bottom of the results and select a value.
  4. Validate that the value selected is displayed in the 'Addl Instructions' field
  5. Populate all required fields and change the order code description to 'Test'.
  6. Click [Add To Scratchpad] and verify a valid 'Order code' is displayed.
  7. Click [Sign].
  8. Search for and select "Order Group A" in the 'New Order' field.
  9. Select the pharmacy-type order code.
  10. Click in the 'Instructions' field and scroll to the bottom of the results and select a value.
  11. Validate that the value selected is displayed in the 'Addl Instructions' field
  12. Click [Add To Scratchpad].
  13. Select the order in the 'Scratchpad'.
  14. Populate all required fields and click [Update Order] and [Sign].

Steps
  1. Select “Client A” and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Click the 'Orders This Episode' tab.
  3. Search for and select "Order Code A" in the 'New Order' field.
  4. Validate the ‘G’ icon and order guidelines value are displayed under the ‘New Order’ field.
  5. Hover over the ‘G’ icon or the order guidelines value and validate a ‘tool tip’ is displayed that contains the order guidelines.
  6. Populate all required fields.
  7. Click [Add to Scratchpad].
  8. Validate the ‘G’ icon is displayed in the ‘Order details’ column and that if you hover over it that the order guidelines will display.
  9. Click [Final Review].
  10. Validate the ‘Interactions’ dialog is displayed.
  11. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  12. Validate the 'Final Review' dialog is displayed.
  13. Select "None" in the 'Output' field and click [Sign].
  14. Validate the 'Order grid' contains an order for "Order Code A".

  • Avatar OE 2021 Update 40, OrderConnect v18.6, and myAvatar NX 2021.09.00 are required in order to utilize full functionality.
  • The 'Avatar Order Entry->Facility Defaults->Client Profile->->->Prevent defaulting to oral Routes in the OE Console (Home Meds / Disch. Med Rec)' registry setting must be set to "Y"
  • The ‘(10382) Treat like Oral when not defaulting Oral’ extended attribute must be set to “Yes” in the Order Entry Tabled Files ‘(60059) OrderConnect Routes of Administration’ dictionary for “Oral”.
  • The 'Default to Client Reported in Home Medications' checkbox must be checked in the 'Order Entry User Definition' form for the logged in user
  • Please log out of the application and log back in after completing the above configuration.

Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select "Order Code A" in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Validate the 'Dose' and 'Dose Unit' fields are required and enabled.
  4. Select "3 TIMES A DAY" in the 'Freq' field.
  5. Set the 'Duration' field to "10" and click [Days].
  6. Click [Add to Scratchpad].
  7. Validate the 'Scratchpad' contains an order with a missing required field flag.
  8. Set the 'Dose' field to "1".
  9. Set the 'Dose Unit' field to "Unit".
  10. Click [Update Order].
  11. Validate the missing required fields flag is not displayed and [Sign].
  12. Validate the 'Order grid' contains the new Sliding Scale Insulin order.
