eMAR NX - Discontinued Orders - Dose button
Note - These testing guidelines assume the user is skilled in the use of, at a minimum, the following:
  • eMAR
  • Orders This Episode
Scenario 1: eMAR NX - Order Display
Specific Setup:
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
  • “Client A” must have the following pharmacy-type orders.
  • Must have a ‘Frequency’ that is “STAT”. (Order A)
  • Must have a ‘Frequency’ that is “Routine” with no administration times. (Order B)
  • Must have a ‘Frequency’ that is “Routine” with administration times and a ‘Start Date’ that is two days in the past. (Order C)
  • Must have a ‘Frequency’ that is “PRN” with no administration times. (Order D)
  • Must have a ‘Frequency’ that is “PRN” with administration times and a ‘Start Date’ that is two days in the past. (Order E)
  • Must have a ‘Frequency’ that has a ‘Priority’ of “Other”. (Order F)
  • Must have a ‘Frequency’ that has a ‘Priority’ of “Continuous”. (Order G)
  • Must be expired and have a ‘Frequency’ that is “Routine” with no administration times. (Order H)
  • Must be expired and have a ‘Frequency’ that is “PRN” with no administration times. (Order I)
  • Must be discontinued and have a ‘Frequency’ that is “Routine” with administration times. (Order J)
Steps
  1. Search for and select "Client A" and access 'eMAR NX' console.
  2. Validate "Order A" is displayed under 'STAT/NOW'.
  3. Validate "Order C" and "Order B" are displayed under 'Scheduled/Routine'.
  4. Validate "Order G" is displayed under 'Continuous'.
  5. Validate "Order D" and "Order E" are displayed under 'PRN'.
  6. Validate "Order F" is displayed under 'Other'.
  7. Validate "Order I" is displayed under 'Expired' and that the 'Overdue/Unscheduled' column displays a [Dose] with a white background. (PRN with no scheduled administration times)
  8. Validate "Order H" is displayed under 'Expired' and that the 'Overdue/Unscheduled' column displays a [Dose] with a white background. (Scheduled/Routine order with no scheduled administration times)
  9. Validate "Order J" is displayed under 'Discontinued'.
  10. Access the Order Entry Console.
  11. Select "Order B" in the 'Order grid' and click [D/C], [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  12. Access 'eMAR NX'.
  13. Click [Scan Client] and complete the 'Wristband Scan Override'.
  14. Validate "Order B" is displayed under 'Discontinued' and that the 'Overdue/Unscheduled' column displays a [Dose] with a white background. (Scheduled/Routine with no scheduled administration times)
  15. Click [Dose] and validate the 'Discontinued Medication Administration' dialog is displayed and contains a message stating "The selected order is Discontinued, effective Discontinue Date and Time. To continue with this administration click 'Ok'. To cancel this administration click 'Cancel'."
  16. Click [OK] and validate the order is added to 'Medication List'.
  17. Click [X] to remove the order from 'Medication List' and validate the 'Medication List' dialog is closed.
  18. Access the Order Entry Console.
  19. Select "Order C" in the 'Order grid' and click [D/C], [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  20. Access 'eMAR NX'.
  21. Validate "Order C" is displayed under 'Discontinued' and that the 'Overdue/Unscheduled' column displays a [Due] with a red background. (Scheduled/Routine with overdue administration times)
  22. Click [Due] and validate the 'Select Administration Time' dialog is displayed.
  23. Select any missed dose and click [Select].
  24. Validate the 'Discontinued Medication Administration' dialog is displayed and contains a message stating: "The selected order is Discontinued, effective Discontinue Date and Time. This Administration Event is occurring outside the allowable administration window of 60 minutes for "Order C description". To continue with this administration click 'Ok'. To cancel this administration click 'Cancel'." and click [OK].
  25. Validate the order is added to 'Medication List'.
  26. Click [X] to remove the order from 'Medication List' and validate the 'Medication List' dialog is closed.
  27. Access the Order Entry Console.
  28. Select "Order D" in the 'Order grid' and click [D/C], [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  29. Access 'eMAR NX'.
  30. Validate "Order D" is displayed under 'Discontinued' and that the 'Overdue/Unscheduled' column displays a [Dose] with a white background. (PRN with no administration times)
  31. Click [Dose] and validate the 'Discontinued Medication Administration' dialog is displayed and contains a message stating: "The selected order is Discontinued, Discontinue Date and Time. To continue with this administration click 'Ok'. To cancel this administration click 'Cancel'." and click [OK].
  32. Validate the order is added to 'Medication List'.
  33. Click [X] to remove the order from 'Medication List' and validate the 'Medication List' dialog is closed.
  34. Access the Order Entry Console.
  35. Select "Order E" in the 'Order grid' and click [D/C], [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  36. Access 'eMAR NX'.
  37. Validate "Order E" is displayed under 'Discontinued' and that the 'Overdue/Unscheduled' column displays a [Due] with a red background. (PRN with overdue administration times).
  38. Click [Due] and validate the 'Select Administration Time' dialog is displayed.
  39. Select any missed dose and click [Select].
  40. Validate the 'Discontinued Medication Administration' dialog is displayed and contains a message stating: "The selected order is Discontinued, effective Discontinue Date and Time. This Administration Event is occurring outside the allowable administration window of 60 minutes for "Order E's description". To continue with this administration click 'Ok'. To cancel this administration click 'Cancel'." and click [OK].
  41. Validate the order is added to 'Medication List'.
  42. Click [X] to remove the order from 'Medication List' and validate the 'Medication List' dialog is closed.
