eMAR NX - Incremental Scanning - Alerts
Note - These testing guidelines assume the user is skilled in the use of, at a minimum, the following:
- Dictionary Update (CWS)
- eMAR
- Orders This Episode
- Registry Settings (PM)
- RxConnect
Scenario 1: eMAR NX - Incremental Scanning with Fill Details
Specific Setup:
- The Avatar application must be associated with an RxConnect Instance and configured to communicate via HL7.
- An Outbound connection must exist for "ADT" and "ORDERS".
- An Inbound connection must exist for "FILLDETAILS".
- The 'Avatar eMAR->General->Settings->->->Enable Medication And Quantity Checking' registry setting must be set to "3".
- The 'Avatar eMAR->General->Settings->->->Enable Incremental Scanning/Defaulting Medication Quantity' registry setting must be set to "2".
- The 'Avatar eMAR->General->Settings->->->Enable enhanced "Give:" line in eMAR 'Order Description'' registry setting must be set to "Y".
- The 'Avatar eMAR->General->Settings->->->Use Pharmacy Fill Details For Order Description' registry setting must be set to "Y".
- A dose unit dictionary code representing "Milligrams" must exist in the Order Entry Tabled Files ‘(10270) Dose Unit' dictionary. (MG)
- The ‘(10289) Medication always administered as 'bulk'’ extended attribute must be set to “No” in the Order Entry Tabled Files ‘(10270) Dose Unit' dictionary for “MG”.
- Please log out of the application and log back in after completing the above configuration.
- A pharmacy-type order code must exist. (CareALL Ibuprofen (200 MG))
- "CareALL Ibuprofen (200 MG)" must have the following configured in the 'Order Code Setup' form:
- 'Strength' = "200".
- 'Strength Unit' = "MG"
- A daily routine frequency code whose hour of administration is currently in the allowable window must exist. (Frequency Code A)
- A client must have an inpatient episode whose program or unit are configured in the ‘External Pharmacy Setup’ form. (Client A)
- “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
- "Client A" must have an active order in Orders This Episode for "CareALL Ibuprofen (200 MG)" with the following order details:
- 'Dose' = "400"
- 'Dose Unit' = "MG"
- 'Freq:' = "Frequency Code A"
- The above order for "Client A" must be processed through RxConnect with the following configuration:
- An equivalent medication with a 'Strength' of 200 MG (Ibuprofen (200 MG))
- 'Total Dosage' = "400"
- The selected order code must contain an 'NDC'
- The Fill Details for the order should contain "Give: take 400 MG = 2 Tablet"
- A barcode must exist for "Ibuprofen (200 MG)". (Barcode A)
Steps
- Search for and select "Client A" and access 'eMAR NX'.
- Validate an order for "Ibuprofen (200 MG)" exists in the list of orders.
- Complete ‘Order Acknowledgement’ and ‘Medication Education’ for the order.
- Scan "Barcode A" and validate the order for "Ibuprofen" is added to the 'Medication List' and that the dose displays as "200/400 MG".
- Scan "Barcode A" again and validate that the dose displays in the 'Medication List' as "400/400 MG".
- Click [Administer] and validate the 'Medication Administration' dialog is launched.
- Validate the 'Address Alerts' button is not displayed.
- Validate the 'Med ID' field contains two instances of the 'NDC' number separated by a comma.
- Complete all missing required fields and click [Save].
