OE NX - First Dose Date/Time
Note - These testing guidelines assume the user is skilled in the use of, at a minimum, the following:
  • Frequency Code Setup
  • Order Group Setup
  • Orders This Episode
Scenario 1: OE NX - Orders This Episode - Schedule II - New, Copy, Modify, Hold, Resume, and Discontinue
Specific Setup:
  • A schedule II pharmacy-type order code must exist. (Order Code A)
  • A frequency code must be configured as a routine frequency with 2 scheduled hours of administration, one at 09:00 AM and one at 09:00 PM, through the "Frequency Code Setup' form. (Frequency Code A)
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as an allergy to "Order Code A" filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select “Client A” and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select "Order Code A" in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Validate a warning indicator is displayed with "At least one warning has been found with this order" link under the 'New Order' field.
  4. Set the 'Dose' field to "1".
  5. Select "Tablet" from the 'Dose Unit' field.
  6. Set the 'Duration' field to "10" and click [Days].
  7. Set the 'Start Time' field to "08:30 AM".
  8. Select "Frequency Code A" from the 'Freq' field.
  9. Validate the 'First Dose Date' field is set to "Today's Date".
  10. Validate the 'First Dose Time' field is set to "09:00 AM".
  11. Click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  12. Validate the 'Interactions' dialog is displayed with an allergy interaction for "Ritalin".
  13. Override the interaction and click [Save Override and Exit].
  14. Validate the 'Order grid' contains an order for "Order Code A".
  15. Select "Order Code A" and click [Copy].
  16. Validate a message is displayed stating "Do you want the new order to default to START AFTER the original orders end? (The alternative is to have the new order default to start now.)" and click [Yes].
  17. Click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  18. Validate that the 'Interactions' dialog is displayed with an allergy interaction for "Order Code A" and a 'Duplicate Order' interaction.
  19. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  20. Validate the 'Order grid' contains two orders for "Order Code A".
  21. Select the first order and click [Modify].
  22. Set the Dose to "2".
  23. Validate that "Tablet" is displayed in the 'Dose Unit' field
  24. Click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  25. Validate that the 'Interactions' dialog is displayed with an allergy interaction for "Order Code A" and a 'Duplicate Order' interaction.
  26. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  27. Validate the 'Order grid' contains an order for "Order Code A 2 Tablet, TWICE A DAY" and an order for "Order Code A 1 Tablet, TWICE A DAY".
  28. Select the first order and click [Hold], [Add to Scratchpad], and [Sign].
  29. Validate the 'Order grid' contains an order for "Order Code A 2 Tablet, TWICE A DAY" with an "Order Status" of "Active(On Hold)".
  30. Select the order with an 'Order Status' of "Active(On Hold)" and click [Resume], [Add to Scratchpad], and [Sign].
  31. Validate the 'Order grid' contains an order for "Order Code A 2 Tablet, TWICE A DAY" and an order for "Order Code A 1 Tablet, TWICE A DAY" both with an 'Order Status' of "Active"
  32. Select the first order and click [Renew].
  33. Set the 'Renew' field to "15" and click [Days].
  34. Click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  35. Validate the 'Order grid' contains an order for "Order Code A 2 Tablet, TWICE A DAY" and an order for "Order Code A 1 Tablet, TWICE A DAY".
Scenario 2: OE NX - Order Group - Create an order using an "Every Nth Day" frequency code with a scheduled administration time that is in the past
Specific Setup:
  • A frequency code must exist that has the following configuration:(Every 2 Days at 08:00 AM)
  • 'Routine or PRN(As Needed)' is set to "Routine"
  • 'One Time Only' is set to "No"
  • 'Interval Frequency' is set to "No"
  • 'Daily Administration' is set to "Not Daily"
  • 'Every Nth Day' is set to "2"
  • 'Times/24 Hours' is set to "1".
  • 'Hours of Administration (Check appropriate hours of administration, if any.) has "08:00" selected under 'AM(06:00-11: 30 AM)'.
  • An order group must contain a pharmacy-type order code (Order Code A) that has a 'Frequency Code' of "Every 2 Days at 08:00 AM" and a 'Duration (Days)' set to "6". (Order Group A)
  • A client must have an active inpatient episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
  • Note: For Testing purposes the current time is after 08:00 AM.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select "Order Group A".
  3. Validate the 'Order Group' dialog is displayed.
  4. Select "Order Code A" and enter a 'Dose' of "1" and a 'Dose Unit' of "Tablet".
  5. Validate the 'Frequency' field contains "Every 2 Days at 08:00 AM", the 'Duration' field contains "6" and that [Days] is selected.
  6. Click [Add to Scratchpad].
  7. Validate the 'Scratchpad' contains an order for "Order Code A".
  8. Select the order.
  9. Validate the 'Freq' field contains "Every 2 Days at 08:00 AM".
  10. Validate the 'First Dose Date' field contains a date that is two days in the future of the current date.
  11. Validate the 'First Dose Time' field contains "08:00 AM".
  12. Validate the 'Start Date' and 'Start Time' fields contains the current date and time.
  13. Click [Cancel Update] and [Sign].
  14. Validate the 'Order grid' contains an order for "Order Code A".
Scenario 3: OENX - Order Group, that has one order selected by default, contains an order code with a 'Frequency' that is configured as One Time Only, Not Daily and has a Schedule Administration Hour of 08:00 AM
Specific Setup:
  • A frequency code must exist that is configured as follows:(Frequency Code A)
  • 'Routine or PRN(As Needed)' is set to "Routine"
  • 'One Time Only' is set to "Yes"
  • 'Interval Frequency' is set to "No"
  • 'Daily Administration' is set to "Not Daily"
  • 'Days Administered' has "Tuesday", "Thursday", and "Saturday" checked.
  • 'Times/24 Hours' is set to "1"
  • "08:00" is checked in the 'AM(06:00-11:30 AM) field under 'Hours of Administration (Check appropriate hours of administration, if any)'.
  • An interval frequency code must exist. (Frequency Code B)
  • An order group must exist that contains the following orders: (Order Group A)
  • A pharmacy-type order code (Order Code A) with a 'Frequency Code' set to "Frequency Code A".
  • A pharmacy-type order code (Order Code B) with a 'Frequency Code' set to "TWICE A DAY", which is "Daily" and has 'Scheduled Hours of Administration' of "09:00 AM" and "09:00 PM" and has the 'Yes' checkbox is checked in the 'Default To Selected When Selecting Orders From Order Group' field.
  • A client must have an active inpatient episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select "Order Group A" in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Validate the 'Order Group' dialog is displayed and contains "Order Code A" and "Order Code B".
  4. Validate that "Order Code A" is not selected by default.
  5. Validate the checkbox for "Order Code B" is selected.
  6. Set the 'Dose' field to "1".
  7. Select "Tablet" in the 'Dose Unit' field.
  8. Validate the 'Freq' field contains "TWICE A DAY".
  9. Set the 'Freq' field to "Frequency Code B" and validate that the 'Start Date/Time' field changes to 'First Dose Date/Time'.
  10. Set the 'Freq' field back to "TWICE A DAY" and validate that the 'First Dose Date/Time' field changes back to 'Start Date/Time'.
  11. Set the 'Duration' to any value and click [Days].
  12. Validate the 'Start Date' field contains the current date.
  13. Validate the 'Start Time' field contains the current time.
  14. Click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  15. Validate the 'Interactions' dialog is displayed.
  16. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  17. Validate the 'Order grid' contains a new order for "Order Code B".
Scenario 4: OE NX - Order Group - One Time Only - Non-Daily with Scheduled Hour of Administration
Specific Setup:
  • A frequency code must exist that has the following configuration:(Frequency Code A)
  • 'Routine or PRN(As Needed)' is set to "Routine"
  • 'One Time Only' is set to "Yes"
  • 'Interval Frequency' is set to "No"
  • 'Daily Administration' is set to "Not Daily"
  • 'Days Administered' is set to "Monday", "Wednesday", and "Friday".
  • 'Times/24 Hours' is set to "1".
  • 'Hours of Administration (Check appropriate hours of administration, if any.) has "08:00" selected under 'AM(06:00-11: 30 AM)'.
  • An order group must contain a pharmacy-type order code (Order Code A) that has a 'Frequency Code' of "Frequency Code A". (Order Group A)
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as an allergy to "Ritalin" filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select "Order Group A".
  3. Validate the 'Order Group' dialog is displayed.
  4. Select "Order Code A" and enter a 'Dose' of "1" and a 'Dose Unit' of "Tablet".
  5. Set the 'Duration' field to "5" and click [Days].
  6. Validate the 'Frequency' field contains "Frequency Code A".
  7. Validate the 'First Dose Date/Time' field is equal to the next available dose.
  8. Click [Add to Scratchpad].
  9. Validate the 'Scratchpad' contains an order for "Order Code A".
  10. Select the order.
  11. Validate the 'Freq' field contains "Frequency Code A".
  12. Validate the 'First Dose Date' field contains the date of the next available administration.
  13. Validate the 'First Dose Time' field contains "08:00 AM".
  14. Validate the 'Start Date' and 'Start Time' fields match the 'First Dose Date' and 'First Dose Time' fields.
  15. Click [Cancel Update] and [Sign].
  16. Validate the 'Order grid' contains an order for "Order Code A".

Scenario 1: My Favorites - Advanced Directive
Specific Setup:
  • The '(509) Require A Frequency Code on Orders' extended attribute off of 'Order Entry Tabled Files''(500) Order Types' must be set to "Yes" for "Advance Directive".
  • Please log out of the application and log back in after completing the above configuration.
  • An Advanced Directive order code must exist. (Do Not Resuscitate (DNR))
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the 'Order Entry Console'.
  2. Click [My Favorites].
  3. Validate that the 'My Favorites' dialog is displayed.
  4. Set the 'Order Search' field to "Do Not Resuscitate (DNR)" and click [Add to Favorites].
  5. Validate that a row exists for 'Do Not Resuscitate'.
  6. Check the 'Select' checkbox for this order code and click [Add to Scratchpad].
  7. Validate that the 'Scratchpad' contains the order for "Do Not Resuscitate" and click [Sign].
  8. Validate that the 'Order grid' contains an order for "Do Not Resuscitate".
Scenario 2: OE NX - Order Entry where Frequency Code has required Additional Instructions
Specific Setup:
  • A client must have an active inpatient episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
  • A Frequency code (Frequency Code A) must exist where 'Require Special/Additional Instructions' is set to "Yes".
Steps
  1. Select “Client A” and access the Order Entry Console
  2. Search for and select "LISINOPRIL 40 MG TABLET ORAL" in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Set the 'Dose' field to "2.5".
  4. Select "MG" from the 'Dose Unit' field.
  5. Select "Every Day" from the 'Freq' field.
  6. Set the 'Duration' field to "20" and click [Days].
  7. Validate the 'Addl Instructions' filed is required.
  8. Click [Add to Scratchpad].
  9. Validate the 'Scratchpad' contains an order for "LISINOPRIL 40 MG TABLET ORAL" with a red flag in the 'Action' column.
  10. Select the order for "Order A" from the 'Scratchpad' to bring it back to 'Order Details'.
  11. Set the 'Addl Instructions' field to "Test".
  12. Click [Add to Scratchpad].
  13. Validate the 'Scratchpad' contains an order for "LISINOPRIL 40 MG TABLET ORAL" with no red flag in the 'Action' column.
  14. Click [Sign].
  15. Validate the 'Order grid' contains two orders for "LISINOPRIL 40 MG TABLET ORAL" with "Test" in the 'Additional Instructions' cell.
Scenario 3: OE NX - My Favorites - Interval Order
Specific Setup:
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select a pharmacy-type order code.
  3. Set the 'Frequency' field to an interval frequency code.
  4. Validate 'Custom' is not displayed.
  5. Populate all fields except the 'Duration' field.
  6. Click the 'Add to Favorites' star button then [Refresh].
  7. Click 'My Favorites', select the order and click [Add to Scratchpad].
  8. Validate there is a missing required field flag for the order.
  9. Select the order in the 'Scratchpad' and validate that 'Custom' is not displayed next to 'Frequency'.
  10. Populate the remaining required fields and click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  11. Validate the 'Interaction' dialog is displayed.
  12. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  13. Validate the order displays in the 'Order grid'.
Scenario 4: OE NX - One Time Only - Default to give Initial Dose Now - Order Group - Copy/Modify
Specific Setup:
  • A frequency code (Frequency Code A) must be configured as a 'one time only' frequency with 'Default to Give Initial Dose Now' set to "Yes".
  • An order group (Order Group A) must be created with at least one pharmacy-type order code (Order Code A) that has a default frequency of "Frequency Code A"
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select "Order Group A" from the 'New Order' field.
  3. Select "Order Code A" and validate "Frequency Code A" is selected in the 'Frequency' field.
  4. Click [Add to Scratchpad].
  5. Select "Order Code A" from the 'Scratchpad' and validate the 'First Dose Date', 'First Dose Time', 'Start Date, and 'Start Time' fields are set to the current date and time, rounded up to the nearest half hour.
  6. Populate any remaining required fields and click [Update Order].
  7. Click [Sign] and validate an order for "Order Code A" displays in the 'Order grid'.
  8. Select "Order Code A" from the 'Order grid' and click [Copy].
  9. Validate that 'Give Initial Dose Now' [Yes] is pressed, click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  10. Validate there are two orders for "Order Code A" in the 'Order grid'.
  11. Select the one of the orders for 'Order Code A' from the 'Order grid' and click [Modify].
  12. Validate that 'Give Initial Dose Now' [Yes] is pressed.
Scenario 5: OE NX - My favorites - Create an order using an "Every Nth Day" frequency code with a scheduled administration time that is in the past
Specific Setup:

  4. Select "Every 2 Days at 08:00 AM" in the 'Freq' field.
  5. Validate the 'First Dose Date' field contains a date that is two days in the future of the current date.
  6. Validate the 'First Dose Time' field contains "08:00 AM".
  7. Set the 'Duration' field to any value and click [Days].
  8. Validate the 'Start Date' and 'Start Time' fields contain the current date and time.
  9. Click [My favorites- Star] and click [Refresh].
  10. Click 'My favorites', select the order code that was recently added above and click [Add to Scratchpad].
  11. Validate the 'Scratchpad' contains the order that was selected with all data defaulted.
  12. Validate the 'First Dose Date' field contains a date that is two days in the future of the current date.
  13. Validate the 'First Dose Time' field contains "08:00 AM".
  14. Click [Cancel Update] and [Sign].
  15. Validate an 'Interactions' dialog is displayed.
  16. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  17. Validate the 'Order grid' contains the new order.
Scenario 6: OE NX - "Hours of Administration are required for Routine orders." - Order Group - One Time Only with Give Initial Dose Now = "Yes"
Specific Setup:
  • The ‘(524) Require Hours of Administration for Routine Orders’ extended attribute must be set to “Hours of Administration are required for Routine orders” in the Order Entry Tabled Files ‘(500) Order Types’ dictionary for “Pharmacy”.
  • Please log out of the application and log back in after completing the above configuration.

  8. Validate the 'First Dose Time' field is equal to the current time rounded to the nearest half hour/hour.
  9. Validate the 'Start Date' field is equal to the 'First Dose Date' field and is disabled.
  10. Validate the 'Start Time' field is equal to the 'First Dose Time' field and is disabled.
  11. Click [Cancel Update] and [Sign].
  12. Validate the 'Order grid' contains an order for "Order Code A"
  13. Access the 'eMAR' tab.
  14. Validate the order for "Order Code A" is shown and that there is one scheduled administration time set to the nearest half hour/hour from the current time under the current date.
Scenario 7: OE NX - "Hours of Administration are required for Routine orders." - My Favorites - One Time Only with Give Initial Dose Now = "Yes"
Specific Setup:

  15. Access the 'eMAR' widget.
  16. Validate the Order for "Order Code A" is shown and that there is one scheduled administration time set to the nearest half hour/hour from the current time under the current date.
Scenario 8: OE NX - "Hours of Administration are required for Routine orders." - Taper/Titration - One Time Only with Give Initial Dose Now = "Yes"
Specific Setup:

  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’, ‘Sex’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Allergies and Hypersensitivities’ form, ‘Diagnosis’ form, and in the ‘Height’ and ‘Weight’ fields in the ‘Vitals Entry’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select "Order Group A" in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Validate the 'Order Group' dialog is displayed and contains "Order Code A" and "Order Code B".
  4. Validate that "Order Code A" is not selected by default.
  5. Validate the checkbox for "Order Code B" is selected.
  6. Set the 'Dose' field to "1".
  7. Select "Tablet" in the 'Dose Unit' field.
  8. Validate the 'Freq' field contains "TWICE A DAY".
  9. Set the 'Freq' field to "Frequency Code B" and validate that the 'Start Date/Time' field changes to 'First Dose Date/Time'.
  10. Set the 'Freq' field back to "TWICE A DAY" and validate that the 'First Dose Date/Time' field changes back to 'Start Date/Time'.
  11. Set the 'Duration' to any value and click [Days].
  12. Validate the 'Start Date' field contains the current date.
  13. Validate the 'Start Time' field contains the current time.
  14. Click [Add to Scratchpad] and [Sign].
  15. Validate the 'Interactions' dialog is displayed.
  16. Override all interactions and click [Save Override and Exit].
  17. Validate the 'Order grid' contains a new order for "Order Code B".

Scenario 1: OE NX - Default Give Initial Dose Now - (524) Require Hours of Administration for Routine Orders" is not required
Specific Setup:
  • The '(524) Require Hours of Administration for Routine Orders' extended attribute must be set to "Hours of Administration are not required for Routine orders." in the Order Entry Tabled Files ‘(500) Order Types’ dictionary for “Pharmacy”.
  • A frequency code (Frequency Code A) must be configured with a 'Routine or PRN(As Needed)' set to "Routine", with no scheduled hour(s) of administration, and 'Default Give Initial Dose Now' set to "Yes" in the 'Frequency Code Setup' form
  • Please log out of and back into the application after completing the above configuration
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)

  • The 'Avatar Order Entry->Facility Defaults->Client Profile->->->Defer Activation of Orders in a Pre-Admit Episode' registry setting must be set to "Y".
  • A Client must have an active pre-admit episode (Client A).
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Click the 'Home Medications' tab.
  3. Create 2 orders, one "Reported" and one "Rx" and populate all required fields selecting an interval frequency code.
  4. Click the 'Admission Med Reconciliation' tab.
  5. Select both orders created in the 'Medication History (Pre-Admission)' table and click [Add to Scratchpad].
  6. Click the first order from the 'Inpatient Medications Scratchpad' and populate all required fields and click [Update Order].
  7. Click the second order from the 'Inpatient Medications Scratchpad' and populate all required fields and click [Update Order].
  8. Validate there is no missing required field flag for either order and click [Reconcile & Sign].

  • An order group must exist with multiple order codes and at least one order code that has 'Default To Selected When Selecting Orders From Order Group' set to "Yes" in the order group setup form. (Order Group A).
  • A client must have an active episode. (Client A)
  • “Client A” must have a ‘Date of Birth’ and address on file in the ‘Update Client Data’ form, as well as information filed in the ‘Diagnosis’ form.
Steps
  1. Select "Client A" and access the Order Entry Console.
  2. Search for and select "Order Group A" in the 'New Order' field.
  3. Uncheck the defaulted order code and select any other order code.
  4. Click [Add to Scratchpad].
  5. Validate only the selected order has been added to the scratchpad.
  6. Select the order and fill out any required fields.
  7. Click [Update Order] and [Sign].
