Note - These testing guidelines assume the user is skilled in the use of, at a minimum, the following:
  • Crystal Report Viewer
Scenario 1: Report Viewer (Avatar NX) - Validation launching a 'Command Button" report requiring an External ODBC Connection
Specific Setup:
  • An external database server [ServerA] exists, that that contains table data [TableA]
  • Using form "NX External ODBC Data Sources", have an "ODBC Data Source" created [DataSourceA] configured to use an ODBC driver to connect to the external database server [ServerA]
  • Have a Crystal Report [ReportA] created, that connects to the external database [ServerA] using [DataSourceA] in order to display data in [TableA]. (Note the format and field layout of the report)
  • In form "Import Reports" have a [ReportA] imported with prompt "Select Import Type" set to "Import for Command Button Launch", "Connection Type" set to "myAvatar NX" and [DatasourceA] selected in the field "myAvatar NX Connections"
  • Have a modeled form [FormA], based on [TableA] that includes a "Command Button" object configured to launch [ReportA]
Steps
  1. Navigate to [FormA]
  2. Click the "Command Button" configured to launch the form
  3. Validate the "Report Viewer" is launched
  4. Verify the format and the field layout on the document preview, is consistent with that of the Crystal Report [ReportA], assigned to the form
  5. Validate the data populated in the fields noted in the setup that have been extracted from the [TableA] on server [ServerA], contains the expected values
  6. Close the report and exit the form
Scenario 2: Report Viewer (Avatar NX) - Validation launching a "Crystal Report for Document Routing" requiring an External ODBC Connection
Specific Setup:
  • An external database exists on [ServerA] that contains data in a table [TableA].
  • Using form "NX External ODBC Data Sources", have an "ODBC Data Source" created [DataSourceA] configured to use an ODBC driver to connect to the [ServerA]
  • Have a Crystal Report [ReportA] created that connects to the external database [ServerA] using [DataSourceA] to display data in [TableA]. (Note the format and field layout of the report)
  • In form "Import Reports", have a [ReportA] imported with prompt "Select Import Type" set to "Import Report for Document Routing"
  • In form "Document Routing Setup", have [FormA] enabled for document routing with prompt "User Crystal Report Template" set to "Yes" and [ReportA] selected in the "Crystal Report" field
  • [UserA] is a staff member with the "My To Do's" widget on their home view
  • Log in as [UserA]
Steps
  1. Open [FormA]
  2. Populate the desired fields on the form (make note of the data populated)
  3. Set the "Draft/Final" field to "Final"
  4. Click [Submit]
  5. Verify "Confirm Document" screen is launched and the format and field layout of the document image, is consistent with that of the Crystal Report [ReportA], assigned to the form
  6. Validate the data populated in each field is consistent with data populated as noted in step 2
  7. Click the "Accept and Route" button
  8. Populate the "Verify Password Prompt" with a password
  9. Click "OK"
  10. At the "Route Document To" screen, add an approver
  11. Click "Submit"
  12. At the home view, verify there is new to do in the "My To Do's" widget for [FormA]
  13. Click approve document
  14. Verify "Confirm Document" screen is launched and the format and field layout of the document image is consistent with that of the Crystal Report [ReportA], assigned to the form
  15. Validate the data populated in each field is consistent with data populated as noted in step 2
  16. Click "Accept"
  17. Populate the "Verify Password Prompt" with a password and click [OK]
  18. Validate the To do is removed from the to do list
