About Preferences in myAvatar
In the top right corner of your myAvatar screen is the Preferences menu. Utilizing preferences allows you to configure your spell-checking options, adjust printer offsets, reload your widget view, configure a chart, and more.
Spell Checking
Through the spell-checking function of myAvatar preferences, you can control which dictionary to use to verify spelling and, if you select the standard spell checker, you can manually add words to the dictionary for spell check.
With Standard Spell Checker you can add words that, although spelled correctly, are often flagged by spell checker as misspelled. You can also add acronyms you use frequently and indicate to spell checker to convert the acronym to the full word at the time spell check is used. For instance, you can set the note: ’Ct came to Netsmart for Prog note and Tx plan training,’ to convert through spell check to read ’Client came to Netsmart for Progress note and Treatment plan training.’
Note: Using Standard Spell Checker is recommended. At this time, there is a known issue that will cause the Microsoft Word Spell Checker window to display behind myAvatar. You can minimize myAvatar and use the Microsoft functionality, but not as seamlessly as with the Standard Spell Checker.
Printer
Use the Printer tab when you need to print a report to a specific printer and the margins need to be adjusted. This could be helpful when printing to specific forms, such as HCFA1500 or letterhead. Select the printer and font then set the left and top offsets to adjust the margins. Be sure to click Apply and print a sample to plain paper first. Adjust margins as necessary until the print placement is accurate.
Themes
Themes allow you to set a different color scheme for myAvatar. The default theme is designed to be a high-contrast color scheme and therefore easier to view. However, if a user chooses, they can change the theme and, the next time the user logs in, the new color scheme will take effect. This is also very useful to system administrators. You can log in with the Default theme in LIVE, change the setting to another theme, then log in to UAT, and your LIVE and UAT environments will have different color schemes. Remember to switch back to the default theme in LIVE before logging off.
Calendar
You can display your external calendar in the My Calendar widget. Three external calendar import options exist: Outlook, Microsoft Exchange, and Gmail.
Select the option and enter the credentials. Indicate how many days you want to sync in the Preferences tab.
Note: The more days you choose to sync, the longer it will take to load the My Calendar widget.
Widgets
The Widgets tab allows for the customization of the console view. This is the tab that is opened when clicking the Customize View icon:

Chart
The Chart tab controls which episode you see in Chart View based on the open or closed status. This can be very helpful in situations where a client has numerous episodes of care in a closed status.
