About myAvatar ASAM Integration
SAMSHA previously engaged a third-party vendor to build and host the ASAM CONTINUUM™ web-based software for front-end data entry and the underlying propriety decision engine for the ASAM Criteria.
Netsmart has entered into an integration partnership with ASAM CONTINUUM™ to provide our end users with the ability to launch to the ASAM CONTINUUM™ from within the CareRecord. This creates an efficient workflow from within the CareRecord to quickly launch the ASAM CONTINUUM™ portal to complete an Assessment. The integration also allows for the clinical data to be brought back into the CareRecord and stored as part of a client’s record. With the integration, organizations will have the ability to design client-based widgets or reports to display ASAM data back to their end users, create reporting for monitoring programs or general client populations, and/or create Level of Care reporting if mandated by state or payer entities.
The integration with ASAM CONTINUUM™ includes support for two separate Assessments, the Comprehensive Assessment, and the Triage Assessment.
Comprehensive Assessment
The Comprehensive Assessment is a structured interview and clinical decision support system for use by clinicians. It provides the treatment team with a computer-guided interview for assessing and caring for individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions. It conducts a full biopsychosocial assessment that addresses all six dimensions of the ASAM Criteria. The Comprehensive Assessment can be repeated as needed throughout an individual’s care to guide treatment as well as at time of discharge planning.
Triage Assessment
The Triage Assessment is a quick referral tool for individuals seeking treatment for substance use disorders. This tool was designed for use by non-clinical staff to provide a preliminary level of care recommendation. Its quick 21-question design helps obtain a provisional ASAM Criteria level of care to refer individuals to a direct or contracted program to receive the level of services needed.
Supported product features
While the Comprehensive and Triage Assessments are completed directly within ASAM CONTINUUM™ web-based software, the following integration-related product features are available within myAvatar:
- ASAM Assessment and Finalize ASAM Assessment forms
- These are client-based and episodic forms that allow for an end user to launch to the ASAM CONTINUUM™
- Single Sign On with ASAM CONTINUUM™
- Ability to capture ASAM CONTINUUM™ data for direct end users of myAvatar (NX) but also can be utilized by contracting providers within ProviderConnect (NX)
- Ability to query ASAM CONTINUUM™ question/response data for storage in myAvatar tables
