Disease reporting in the myAvatar STD module

The State of California mandates certain communicable diseases be reported to the local health department. In San Diego County, cases are reported to the Health and Human Services Agency via the Confidential Morbidity Report (CMR) form.

  • The following sexually transmitted diseases are legally reportable in San Diego County:
    • Chlamydia, including Lymphogranulom Venerum (LGV)
    • Gonorrhea
    • Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)
    • Syphilis
    • Chancroid
  • State regulations require reporting of HIV and AIDS cases to the local health department. California's disease reporting regulations not only specify what, when, where and how to report cases, but also include descriptions of monetary penalties to be imposed for failure to comply with these laws.
