How to Set Up Service Code Restrictions

Use the steps below to restrict services codes (by program) from being entered for a client unless those services are included in the Intervention section of the Client Treatment Plan.

Note: When you have admission and service programs, this needs to be set up on both program levels in order to work correctly at the progress note level.

  1. To turn on the functionality that limits service entry and appointment scheduling based on the Client Treatment Plan, turn on the Enable Service Entry Restriction by Client Treatment Plan registry setting.
  2. While in "S", go to the Program Maintenance form, Assign Services To Program section and select the service codes that will be available for each program.
Note: The Enable Service Entry Restriction for Program field enforces the treatment plan requirement for that program only.
  3. In the Program Maintenance form Client Treatment Plan Service Restriction Exceptions section, you can specify other services to allow for only a set period of time. Indicate the number of days after admission OR a date range with begin and end dates.
Note: The number of days after admission would typically be the length of time prior to a treatment plan being filed.
  4. Go to the Treatment Plan form, Intervention section and select the allowable services to enable.
  5. In the Frequency and Duration fields of the Assigned Services grid, select the values for each permitted service.
