Functional Acknowledgement (997) File

Generate functional acknowledgement (997) files for 837 files that have been compiled or posted through the 837 Health Care Claim Professional, or 837 Health Care Claim Institutional forms.

• The 997 is a technical acknowledgement of an 837 inbound file.

1. In the Options field:

• Select Create File On Server to create the 997 file.
  The 997 acknowledgement file will be created in either the directory defined in the Set System Defaults form (Output Directory field).
  The Specify 997 Directory registry setting can override this directory.

• Select Dump File to produce a dump report that displays unformatted 997 file information.

• Select Run Report to produce a report showing information related to the 997.
  If the file contains errors, the report displays the segment containing the error, error code and value, and the error produced when the 837 file was posted to myAvatar .
  The report is sorted by functional group and transaction set.

2. Click Process.
