Visit Types

Description:

Visit Types are used to help distinguish telemedicine visits from in-office, triggering your telemedicine billing rules to take effect. If your clinic is utilizing PE Telehealth, Visit Types are also used to set up Telehealth Sessions between the patient and provider.

Applies To:

TheraOffice Onsite and Web, version .19 or later

Setting Up Visit Types

Setting up your visit types is simple. TheraOffice is preloaded with 3 visit types: In Office, Telehealth, and E-Visit:

  • In-Office is used when the patient is being seen in person and does not require any telemedicine billing rules.
  • Telehealth is used when the patient is being seen for a telehealth appointment and will be using the Telehealth Billing Rules for their insurance.
  • E-Visit is used when the patient is being seen remotely for an e-visit and will be using the E-Visit Billing Rules for their insurance. For more information on the difference between E-Visits and Telehealth, please click here.

To set up your visit types:

1. Open the Backstage Menu and navigate to Scheduling. Select Appointment Types.

2. Double click the desired appointment type to edit it. By default, all Appointment Types are set to in-office, so you will only need to edit your telehealth and e-visit types.

The above image shows the Appointment Type window with the Visit Type dropdown expanded and highlighted in yellow.

3. In the Appointment Type window, select the desired Visit Type from the dropdown menu.

Visit Types in Documentation

The image above represents the New Document Window with the Visit Type dropdown expanded and highlighted in yellow.

Visit Types will appear in Documentation when creating a new document, whether by Document Organizer or selecting the New Document option in the top ribbon controls. These will carry over from Scheduling, but can be changed by the provider if necessary in order to trigger the appropriate Telemedicine Billing Rule.
