Mask or unmask a Social Security number

This article explains how to mask/unmask a patient's social security number.

In the Fall 2022 Update, a patient's social security number (SSN) will automatically be masked in Patient Information. If there is a SSN in the SSN field in Patient Information, then it will appear masked.

This picture shows what a masked SSN looks like in Patient Information.

If a user wants to view the SSN, they can click on the arrow to the far right hand side of the SSN field. This will unmask the SSN for the rest of the time they are in the Patient Information screen. Once the Patient Information screen is closed, the SSN will return to being masked.
