Prompt a User Before Closing TIER

Overview

Prompt a user before closing to prevent them from closing out of TIER instead of closing a single form.

Details

Use the Prompt on close setting in user preferences to prompt the user before closing TIER. This feature will help to avoid accidentally closing a form and losing important work. User preferences are specific to each machine that is running the TIER EXE, so the Prompt on close setting would need to be selected multiple times. These settings write to the Windows Registry, though, and could be populated via the registry instead.

Steps

To add a confirmation prompt, follow the steps outlined here.

  1. In the TIER EXE, in the Window toolbar, click User.
  2. On the User menu, select Preferences.
  3. In the User Preferences window, click the Prompt on close check box, then click OK.

The next time TIER is launched, when the user clicks the X to close TIER, they will be prompted to confirm before TIER is closed.
