Field mode functions partially available

In Field mode, you have limited access to the Payers window in Patient>General. The Pay Control Date field in the lower grid of the Payers window is read-only. You cannot add new or edit an existing pay control date. However, you can add a new pay source for a patient in the Pay Source Insurance Code field of the upper window grid, but you cannot edit existing and add new pay sources. Only pay sources that are in the application database can be added in Field mode.

In the Admission & Status window (in Patient>General), only specially defined Field mode status codes are available. In the Transactions component, only Contract Invoices, Supplies, and Time Log are available. The functionality in the Diagnoses window is limited.

In Assessments, you can select any diagnosis that is assigned to the patient including free-text medical and inpatient diagnoses. However, such assessments cannot be validated until you convert free text to a code in an assessment. Assessments with free-text diagnoses cannot be exported and will appear with fatal errors in Transactions>General>OASIS Export. If a free-text diagnosis was added in the assessment that was later converted in Host mode in the Diagnoses window, then you need to open the corresponding assessment, go to the Diagnoses Entry M1020-M1024 page in ICD-9 or Diagnoses Entry M1021-M1025 page in ICD-10 assessments, and click the Go to Diagnoses button to refresh the diagnoses in the assessment. See Inpatient Diagnoses workflows.
