Enter insurance claim constants for patient
Path: Patient > General > Claim Constants
- Go to Patient>General>Claim Constants.
- In the left section, select the insurance code for which you want to add claim constants.
- Enter the effective date the claim constant value should start to appear on claims.
- In the FL/Box/Item field, select the locator where the claim constant value should appear. Only non-revenue fields are available for selection here.
- In the Code field, enter the code or value that should appear in the selected locator (box) on the claim form. Possible selections are occurrence codes or condition codes.
- Enter the free-text value to appear in the selected locator on the claim form, up to 200 alphanumeric characters.
- To word wrap text in the Remarks field on the UB-04 claims, it is necessary to use the pipe key (|) located on the same key as the backslash (\). It is important to place the pipe key prior to or immediately after the last character of text that may appear on each remarks line.
- For example, on the UB-04 claim, 19 characters of text are allowed on the first line and 24 characters on lines two through four. Therefore, to word wrap from the first line to the second line, the pipe key would need to be placed on or before the 19th character. If placed on the 20th character, all text after the 19th character through to the pipe key will be truncated.
- If this code or value requires a from date, such as Locator 36 of the UB-04, enter the from date associated with this code.
- If this code or value requires a through date, such as Locator 36 of the UB-04, enter the through date associated with this code.
- Select or enter the end date when the claim constant value should no longer be used.
- Press Tab to add new lines, if necessary.
- Follow steps 3 - 10 to define additional claim constants.
- Save your changes.
