Select Patient dialog
With the Select Patient dialog, you can search for and select patients in the current Business Unit. You can search by:
- patient first or last name
- patient ID
- patient Master ID (if associated)
- Social Security number
- resource to whom the patient is assigned
- admission status
- team
- branch
You can use fewer criteria to return broader search results, or you can complete more fields to narrow your search to more specific results.
The grid that displays patient information is called the results grid.
- The results grid has a horizontal scroll bar that you can drag to view columns of information on your search results in addition to the search criteria you used.
- In this grid, you can also re-sort the column headings.
- For example, if you wish to see the patient Social Security number in the first column, you can use your mouse to drag and drop the Social Security number column heading to the desired position. The application will retain the header order until you exit Netsmart Homecare or the Patient component.
- With the exception of the Social Security number, you can perform partial searches.
The Select Patient dialog has two tabs.
- The first tab displays the patients in the current Business Unit.
- The second tab – Master Patient List tab – displays a master view of patients in all the Business Units where you have access rights.
- Deceased patients do not appear in the Master Patient List. You can edit deceased patients only in the Business Units where they exist.
- This tab has two panels. Using the master view, you can select and open a patient within the appropriate Business Unit.
- For example, if you search for patient "John Smith" who has records in several Business Units, he appears in the upper panel of the Master Patient List tab of Select Patient. When you select him, a list appears in the lower panel of the Business Units where John Smith is present (only the Business Units where you have access rights appear in the list). You can then choose the Business Unit where you want to open the patient.
To minimize time for data download, the Master Patient List is not available in Field Mode.
- A field user might add a new patient to a Business Unit who is already present in another Business Unit.
- Such patients are detected during synchronization and are logged as a conflict in the Conflict History report.
- You can use the Patient Merge utility to resolve the conflict.
With the Select Patients window, you can select an individual patient.
Within the Reports and Schedule components, you can select multiple patients from your search results.
Note: Although you can view and edit patients only in the Business Units to which you have permission, the Patient Basic edits you make in any Business Unit are reflected in all Business Units, even those to which you do not have permission.
